Thunderstorms to cause power cuts and travel disruption as yellow weather warning issued for tonight

Just when we thought the weather in Scotland was heating up, mother nature steals it from us.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for tonight until Wednesday morning for thunderstorms.

From 6pm tonight until 9am tomorrow scattered thunderstorms could lead to power cuts and travel delays, according to weather forecasters.

Despite today being a cloudy start turning sunnier in the afternoon, the night will bring rain and storms.  So we should all enjoy the warm weather while it lasts.

The Met Office reports: "Scattered thunderstorms are expected to affect parts of south-west and southern England this evening, moving north quickly across the UK overnight, clearing Scotland and eastern England by mid-morning on Wednesday.

"Although some places will miss the thunderstorms altogether, where they do occur there is the potential for frequent lightning, hail and gusty winds, as well as sudden downpours in a few places."
