Thunderstorms threaten to end heatwave as UK could be hotter than Ibiza

  • Parts of eastern England are predicted to reach 30C on Friday, potentially making it the hottest day of 2025 and warmer than Ibiza, Mykonos or Los Angeles.
  • The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms later on Friday, affecting London, Wales, and various regions of England.
  • Areas within the warning zone may experience torrential downpours, with 30–50mm of rain expected in a short time, along with hail, gusty winds, and possible flooding.
  • The UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has issued a yellow heat-health alert until 8am on Sunday for the east of England, East Midlands, London, and the south east.
  • Heavy rain is predicted for the north of England, Northern Ireland, and parts of Scotland on Saturday, with afternoon thunderstorms further south.
