Thunderstorms forecast to bring Liverpool Bank Holiday heatwave to crashing end

Liverpool has basked in stunning weather this weekend - with more sunny weather forecast for Bank Holiday Monday.

But the good weather isn't set to last, with thunderstorms predicted for Tuesday onwards.

This weekend has seen the mercury reach highs of 28 degrees, with people flocking to parks and beaches across the region.

Festival-goers also left their wellies at home, as they basked in the sun instead at Creamfields.

Sunday sees the good weather continue - with wall to wall sunshine predicted for the rest of the day.

Monday will see temperatures drop to 22 degrees, and there is the chance of more cloud, but the rain should stay away for the day, which is good news for many families hoping to enjoy a day out.

But from Tuesday onwards the good weather breaks - with thunderstorms predicted from 2pm until midnight.

Wednesday is also expected to be a rainy day, with showers expected throughout the day and high of 19 degrees predicted.

The Met Office forecast for Tuesday to Thursday said: "Turning increasingly changeable and cooler from the west.

"Tuesday is likely to see some heavy showers. Wednesday could bring some more persistent rain. Then sunshine and a showers on Thursday."
