Thunderstorms and flooding are now to arrive in East Lothian tomorrow with new warning issued

East Lothian is now set to be hit with thunderstorms and flooding from tomorrow afternoon  – around 24 hours before everywhere else gets drenched too.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for parts of Fife, East Lothian and the Borders from Wednesday. This will run from 12pm to 9pm.

They say heavy and "possibly thundery" showers may cause some travel disruption and flooding.

Edinburgh Live reported on Monday that Edinburgh is braced for yet more flooding, with warnings in place for the capital from 12pm to 9pm on Thursday – so a day later than it arrives in East Lothian.

Forecasters say there's a small chance homes and businesses could be hit by floodwater and lightning strikes, and that fast flowing or deep waters could cause danger to life.

They added: "Spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures.

"There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost."
