Thunderstorm warning as heavy rain forecast for first Sunday of Edinburgh Fringe

A yellow weather warning has been issued on the first weekend of the Edinburgh Fringe, with a thunderstorm set to hit the capital on Sunday.

While Saturday is likely to be dry and sunny, the storm could bring flooding and transport disruption the following day.

The warning area covers much of the central belt of Scotland and extends further south into England. It is in place between midday and 10pm.

The Met Office say: "There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater and lightning strikes."

It will continue to feel warm during sunny spells throughout the day but the heavy rain is expected to hit on Sunday afternoon.
