Thunder’s loss to Clippers was a ‘net positive’ compared to Friday game

Unlike Friday, the Oklahoma City Thunder’s own mistakes weren’t the reason they lost 108-100 to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday. They fixed key areas like rebounding and fouling. They sustained comeback drives to the point where the game was within reach with a minute left on the clock. They just didn’t have forward Kawhi Leonard.

Leonard’s 34 points — 32 of which came in the first three quarters — elevated the Clippers over the Thunder and guards Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and George Hill, who combined for 45 points.

“I was really happy with the progress we made,” head coach Mark Daigneault said. “Coming out of the game on Friday, there were some real tangible things we wanted to improve at, and I thought we did that tonight, for the most part. It was a net positive day for us.”

A loss like this is fine. It’s hard to be pleased about a game you don’t win, but this one shouldn’t leave a poor taste in anyone’s mouth.
