Thunder risk as heavy rain and gusty weather forecast to hit Liverpool

Merseyside might be hit with some thundery showers, as the region is set for a wet week.

The Met Office reports that for the next few days there will be on-and-off showers and blustery conditions. The rain will start today, on Monday, November 7, and continue until Wednesday.

Heavy downpours are expected at times and gales will hit later on in the day. Into Tuesday a band of heavy rain and very strong, gusty winds will move east.

Forecasters say this means there will be scattered heavy showers and a risk of thunder. There will be some bright spells however, as we enter Wednesday. But winds will increase into Thursday.

The BBC outlook for the rest of the week, reads: "After a dry start tomorrow morning, patchy cloud and showers will soon develop. The rest of the day will then see sunny spells mixed with blustery showers, these heavy and thundery in places. Breezy.

"Wednesday will have sunny spells and a few patches of cloud. However, the odd shower will develop in places, mainly in the morning. A rather breezy day with mild temperatures.

"Thursday will see variable cloud cover, bringing the chance of a few light showers at times. Friday will be a dry day, with a few patches of cloud to start but widespread sunshine for all later."
