Thunder projected to win only 31.5 games in 2019-20

Following the loss of the Thunder’s two biggest stars during the offseason, it’s reasonable to believe that Oklahoma City’s win total in 2019-20 would take a hit.

But just how big of a hit? Spoiler alert: it’s not looking good.

According to Westgate’s season win totals Oklahoma City is only projected to win 31.5 games in 2019-20. That’s seventh-worst in the league.

FanDuel and DraftKings are slightly kinder in their projections, at 32.5 and 33.5 wins, respectively.

The Thunder won 49 games in 2018-19, placing fourth in the Northwest Division and sixth in the Western Conference before being eliminated by the Portland Trailblazers four games to one in the first round of the playoffs.

The projection likely stings a little bit more as both the Clippers and the Rockets are among the NBA’s highest in projected win total, both at 54.5 games.

The Action Network proclaimed the Clippers “won the offseason” thanks to their acquisition of Paul George and Kawhi Leonard. The moves bumped the Clippers up from 49.5 projected wins, per Westgate.

Despite George and Russell Westbrook no longer being on the roster, the Thunder still have a talented a squad and a boatload of draft picks to help facilitate the rebuilding process.

The Thunder start training camp on October 1.
