The Oklahoma City Thunder failed to split a two-game set against the Houston Rockets as they lost at home, 114-110, on Wednesday night.
The Thunder led comfortably for the first three quarters and held an 11 point lead with less than nine minutes to go. The Rockets would proceed to score 41 fourth-quarter points and complete the comeback to get a win on the road.
The Thunder kept it close all the way through but ultimately fell short as Jae’Sean Tate surprisingly became the Rockets’ go-to scorer in the fourth quarter. Tate finished the night with a career-high 32 points.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the story of the night for the Thunder as he had his best scoring output this season with 39 points on 12-of-26 shooting, which included going 14-of-16 from the free-throw line. After struggling to score the ball in recent weeks, Gilgeous-Alexander puts up his best performance of the season as the Rockets had no answer for him in the interior all game long.
The Thunder are now losers of six straight and eight of their last nine games.
