Thunder officially lift Nick Collison’s jersey into the rafters

The No. 4 jersey of Nick Collison is officially off of the market in OKC.

The Thunder lifted the longtime number of Collison into the rafters of Chesapeake Energy Arena on Wednesday in a special ceremony prior to hosting the Toronto Raptors.

Collison, the No. 12 pick of the Seattle SuperSonics in 2003, addressed the crowd in Oklahoma City after a short tribute video played. He was surrounded by several members of his family.

Collison gave an emotional speech in which he thanked his family members, Thunder owner Clay Bennett, general manager Sam Presti, Russell Westbrook and several others.

Several former teammates made the trip to be in the arena for the ceremony, including Kevin Durant, Anthony Morrow, Steve Novak and others. Of course, Serge Ibaka was also in attendance with the Raptors in town.

Collison will go down as the ultimate team player as he has had a huge impact on those that he has played with and has been around over the years.

There likely wasn’t a dry eye in the building on Wednesday…
