Thunder officially acquire Darius Bazley’s draft rights

On the night of the 2019 NBA Draft, the Oklahoma City Thunder traded the No. 21 overall pick to the Memphis Grizzlies for their second-round pick in 2024 and, more importantly, the No. 23 overall pick in this year’s draft.

The No. 23 pick, however, belonged to the Utah Jazz, who selected prep-to-pro forward Darius Bazley on the Thunder’s behalf. With the NBA Free Agency Moratorium also placing a hold on all trades, Oklahoma City has not been able to officially work with its new prospect.

Now the Thunder can, with Oklahoma City announcing the Draft Night trade has been approved by the league with the Moratorium coming to an end on Saturday at noon.

Bazley is in Las Vegas for the 2019 NBA Summer League festivities, but it’s unclear whether or not he’ll suit up for the Thunder over the next few days. The first-round pick has not competed in a competitive basketball game since 2017-18.
