Thunder lose to Kings after game-tying basket wiped away from foul

Buddy Hield scored 34 points while De’Aaron Fox and Marvin Bagley III each added 19 points to lead the Sacramento Kings to a 119-116 win over the Thunder on Saturday night.

Russell Westbrook led Oklahoma City with 41 points as a potential game-tying layup with 11.5 seconds remaining was wiped away after Westbrook was called for a charge on Willie Cauley-Stein.

Afterward, Westbrook didn’t dispute the penalty.

“It was a charge,” Westbrook said. “They called a charge. That’s it. I can’t change the call. It’s over with, man.”

The Thunder trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half and were unable to complete the comeback in the end. The game marked the second in as many nights after defeating the Utah Jazz at home Friday night.

Paul George scored 45 points on a season-high 50 minutes Friday night but recorded just 14 points on 4-of-19 shooting from the field as the MVP candidate looked to be gassed on the second game of a back-to-back.

The win for the Kings ensured a season series win over the Thunder after Sacramento took three of the four games this season. The Thunder dropped to 17-3 all-time against the Kings in Oklahoma City.

The Thunder return to action Tuesday on the road against the Denver Nuggets.
