The Toronto Raptors are only one game away from winning the NBA Finals against the heavy favorite Golden State Warriors. Now, Oklahoma City Thunder fans don’t need reminding of how their team was knocked out of the NBA Playoffs, let’s just leave it at it wasn’t at the hands of the Warriors and, of course, not the Raptors out East. But Thunder fans still have reason to care about the 2019 NBA Finals.
First, there’s ex-Thunder superstar Kevin Durant. He famously left Oklahoma City for the Warriors following their 2016 Western Conference Finals comeback after falling behind 3-1 against the Thunder. But now, some wonder if he’ll head further north if the Raptors take home the title.
On the other side of the court is another ex-Thunder standout, Serge Ibaka. The end of Ibaka’s time with the Thunder had a significantly different tenor since he was dealt away to the Orlando Magic, unlike Durant who chose to take off.
As a result, Thunder fans are more than happy to see the ex-Oklahoma City big man closing in on his first ring.
