Thunder fans may be interested in Saturday’s Kings-Rockets outcome

With several teams battling for playoff positioning, watching the scoreboard can be quite frequent around this time of the year. On Saturday, the Thunder may join the party.

Although the Thunder are off on Saturday, following a 115-105 loss on Friday, the team can still clinch a playoff berth but will need some help in order to do so.

With just two spots left in the Western Conference up for grabs, and three teams still mathematically alive for the postseason, the Sacramento Kings are down to their last chance to qualify.

In fact, a loss by the Kings on Saturday night to the Houston Rockets would eliminate them from postseason contention, thus sending the Thunder and the San Antonio Spurs to the playoffs.

Sacramento is 0-2 against Houston this season and still has two more matchups against James Harden & Co. over their final seven games of the regular season. Houston is favored by 10 points on Saturday.

Although the Kings can keep their chances alive with a win on Saturday, any combination of a loss by the Kings or a win by the Thunder over the final stretch of the season will eliminate Sacramento.

While the Kings’ chances of making the playoffs are stacked against them, crazier things have happened in the NBA so they will be playing until they are officially eliminated from the race.

The game on Saturday is set to tip off at 5 p.m. CT.
