Thunder clinch 10th consecutive .500 season with win vs. Jazz

Dennis Schroder scored 24 points off of the bench, Russell Westbrook added 23 points and the Oklahoma City Thunder knocked off the Utah Jazz 98-89 Monday night at Vivint Smart Home Arena.

The Thunder improved to 41-26 on the season with the win and clinched their 10th consecutive season with a .500 record, the third-longest active streak in the NBA.

Oklahoma City swept the season series against Utah with the win as it also ensured the Thunder finished with a 2-2 record on their four-game, eight-day road trip.

The Thunder led by as many as 17 points in the game and held the Jazz to 36.4 percent shooting from the field. OKC looked to be in control for much of the evening and had an answer each time the Jazz went on a run.

While the Thunder picked up a big win on the road to salvage their road trip, the game might be overshadowed by a heated exchange between Westbrook and a Jazz fan.

In the first half, a video captured by Jazz beat writer Eric Woodyard of The Deseret News showed Westbrook in a heated confrontation with a fan near the Thunder bench.

Westbrook has voiced his displeasure with the fans in Utah on more than one occasion with the incident on Monday likely among the most animated Westbrook has been. It is unclear what was said to provoke Westbrook but he was not happy with the fan in question.

The game against the Jazz was the fourth and final one of the regular season so Westbrook and the team may not have to deal with a situation like that again this season.

The Thunder return to action on Wednesday at home against the Brooklyn Nets.
