Thunder awarded the No. 21 pick in the NBA Draft after tiebreaker

The Oklahoma City Thunder will pick 21st in the 2019 NBA Draft.

The NBA held random drawings on Friday for the seven teams that finished with identical records to determine the order of selection for the draft in June. The Thunder were among the teams involved in the tiebreakers.

Oklahoma City (49-33) finished with the same record as the Boston Celtics. The Thunder won the tiebreaker against the Celtics and will now pick 21st in the upcoming draft following the results of the tiebreaker.

The Thunder did not have a first-round pick in the NBA Draft last year so the team has an opportunity to add another young player to the roster as it currently stands.

Oklahoma City acquired Hamidou Diallo on draft night last year from the Charlotte Hornets so the team will not have a second-round pick this year as that pick was sent to the Hornets in that trade.

While picking that late in the first round may not necessarily yield a star prospect, the Thunder can pick up a player that can potentially be worthwhile.
