Thunder averaged second-highest local TV rating among NBA teams

The Oklahoma City Thunder averaged the second-highest local TV rating of all NBA teams, posting a 6.69 rating on Fox Sports Oklahoma, according to Sports Business Journal.

Overall, the league saw a four percent decline in local ratings this season due in large part to two of the four largest markets — New York and Chicago — posting lower numbers.

According to the report, Cleveland saw the biggest drop in ratings due to the departure of LeBron James to the Los Angeles Lakers. Conversely, the Lakers saw a 31 percent increase.

The Golden State Warriors led all teams with a 7.42 rating on NBC Sports Bay Area. The Utah Jazz were just behind the Thunder, in third place, while the San Antonio Spurs and Portland Trail Blazers rounded out the top five.

Since moving to Oklahoma City, the Thunder have had some of the highest local TV ratings each year on FS OK. In each of the past two seasons, the Thunder were third among all teams.

The Thunder usually have quite a few appearances on national TV. But fans still like to watch the local coverage with Chris Fisher, Michael Cage, Lesley McCaslin and Nick Gallo and the ratings certainly reflect that.

The season marked the first with Fisher on play-by-play duties.
