Thunder announce Abdel Nader suffered concussion against Celtics

Oklahoma City Thunder wing Abdel Nader suffered a concussion against the Boston Celtics in the scrimmage on Friday, the team announced Saturday afternoon.

Nader hit his head on the floor in the fourth quarter, at which point he was taken out of the game.

“It looked like — from my angle, I didn’t see — is that he kinda landed and the back of his head hit the floor,” Donovan said shortly after the game.

Nader was evaluated after the game and has entered concussion protocol.

The Thunder said there is no timetable for his return.

In the return to the court, Nader had 11 points on 5-for-9 shooting in 12 minutes.

Through 48 games this season, Nader averaged 6.0 points and 1.9 rebounds in just under 16 minutes per game.

Nader will almost certainly miss the remainder of the scrimmages and likely more. Oklahoma City plays its first real game on Aug. 1, only a week away.

The first round of the NBA playoffs is set to begin Aug. 18. Nader would have 25 days since the concussion occurred to get back on the court and get back to basketball form.

Nader is one of two injured Thunder players. Center Nerlens Noel missed the game Friday, but has been practicing with the team and is expected to return to game action soon.

Additionally, the Thunder will at some point lose the services of Dennis Schroder, who plans to leave the bubble for the birth of his child.
