Thunder also receive Admiral Schofield from Wizards in Vit Krejci trade

The Oklahoma City Thunder trade with the Washington Wizards involving the No. 37 and 53 draft picks was finalized on Thursday with the announcement that the Thunder also received wing Admiral Schofield while giving the Wizards a 2024 second-round draft pick.

In total, the Thunder received Schofield and the draft rights to guard Vit Krejci at 37 in exchange for the No. 53 pick, which was guard Cassius Winston, and the 2024 second-rounder.

Schofield, who was the No. 42 overall pick in the 2019 draft, played 33 games in both the G League and the NBA last season.

At the developmental league level he averaged 16 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game with respectable shooting numbers of 45.6% from the field and 36.8% from deep on 5.8 3-pointers per game.

In the NBA, he averaged 11.2 minutes per game, posting 3.0 points and 1.4 rebounds per outing. He appeared in six bubble games but averaged just 2.7 points and 2.2 rebounds in 12.6 minutes.

Schofield will likely fight for a rotation spot on the rebuilding Thunder team and it would be unsurprising if he had stints with the OKC Blue. NBC Washington wrote that Schofield “often appeared lost or out of position and rarely played with the assertiveness.” Bullets Forever called him inefficient on offense and ineffective on defense, “a bad combination for someone the team hoped could develop into a 3&D specialist.”

Oklahoma City will hope its development program can help Schofield become a rotation player. New head coach Mark Daigneault has extensive history in the G League, which could be beneficial to the 23-year-old.
