For Thunder general manager Sam Presti, the beginning of the NBA season doesn’t necessarily mean that his work in reshaping the roster and the franchise’s identity ends. Quite the opposite.
On Wednesday afternoon, Oklahoma City agreed to terms with three-year point guard Chasson Randle, who last appeared in an NBA for the Golden State Warriors during the 2019-20 season.
Randle, who also played for the Knicks and Sixers, joins the rebuilding Thunder and will likely remain with the team only through the end of training camp. Considering the priority that the team has seemingly placed on getting younger, it seems unlike that Randle would figure into the club’s long-term plans.
News of Randle’s signing was first reported by Yahoo! Sports’ Chris Haynes.

The move to sign Randle came shortly after the club announced that it requested waivers on Zylan Cheatham, who was acquired in the trade that saw Steven Adams land in New Orleans.
For sure, it won’t be the last roster move made by the Thunder prior to finalizing its regular-season roster.
