Police are investigating a series of knife threats.
In one case a man told officers he was threatened with a retractable knife after he stopped to confront thugs in St Helens who threw stones at his car.
Police confirmed they were called to Central Street, on Tuesday, July 13, to reports of youths throwing stones at cars in the area.

Officers chased a 16-year-old on foot and he was arrested at the scene and will be interviewed at a later date.
A knife was also recovered by officers.
A young woman also reported on social media that she had been threatened with a knife after confronting the thugs throwing stones at her car while she was driving with her baby.
She claims the youths were targeting cars on College Street, which is just moments away from Central Street, on the same day.
Posting in a St Helens Facebook group, she said: "Just warning anyone passing College Street, there's a group of teenage lads throwing stones at car windows, and when they get confronted because I had my baby in the car, they decided to pull a knife out on us, disgusting."
It is unclear whether this was a separate incident and no injuries were reported to police.
Community Policing Inspector, Jon Smith said: "Carrying a knife puts you in significant danger and can lead to fatal consequences, whether this is the intention or not and we simply will not tolerate such behaviour in our communities. Where we receive reports of anyone carrying knives we will not hesitate to take swift action.
"Knife crime remains one of our force priorities. As part of Operation Target, Merseyside Police’s response to tackle the national issue of knife crime, we work in close partnership with local authorities, the Youth Offending Service and health and social care professionals to share information and good practice.
"We also encourage parents, guardians, teachers and young people themselves to visit the Our Merseyside website where they can support the #BladeFree campaign as well as finding clubs and activities in their area that will direct them towards a more positive future.
