Thugs smash up Scots shop before making off with five-figure sum of cash

Thugs smashed up a Scots shop and made off with a large amount of money from an ATM in the early hours of this morning.

Police have launched a probe after the yobs burst into Day Today on Woodland Crescent in Cambuslang at around 1.40am on Thursday, April 22.

Significant damage was caused to the outside of the store and a five-figure sum of cash was stolen from the ATM machine.

Officers say a number of enquiries are ongoing to trace the suspects and the vehicle involved, which was a dark-blue Audi estate.

Detective Constable Christine McLanachan, of Cambuslang Police Station, said: "We have been carrying out enquiries in Woodland Crescent and speaking to members of the public.

"We are gathering and viewing CCTV footage from in and around the local area to help us trace the Audi involved and find out where it travelled to after the incident.

"At this time, I would like to hear from anyone with any information on this crime or the vehicle involved, including anyone with dash-cam footage who may have witnessed anything significant to this enquiry.

"Information can be passed to Cambuslang Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0187 of April 22.

"Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted through 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained."
