Thugs run away laughing after stealing GHDs from beauty salon

This is the moment two men ran away in fits of laughter from a hair salon after stealing GHD products off the shelves.

Lisa Jennins was with a client in a treatment room at TLC Hair & Beauty Salon in St Helens on Tuesday when she was alerted to the incident by the sound of a bang.

Lisa, who is a joint owner of the salon on Water Street with her business partner Tina Boyle, said a staff member was standing in the entrance to the staff room at the time making a cup of tea.

The men, who are believed to have been in their early 20s, were caught on camera running away from the salon after stealing a GHD slide brush and a GHD curling tongue.

Lisa has reported the incident to Merseyside Police and wants to make other businesses in the area aware.

Lisa said: "It all happened in seconds.

"I'm annoyed more than anything. We're struggling in this industry - thousands of salons have closed during Covid and we're struggling to keep our head above water, especially now furlough has finished and these people come in and steal from us.

"They were laughing as they ran off which makes it worse."

A spokesperson from Merseyside Police said: "We are appealing for information following a shop theft in St Helens on Tuesday, 12 October.

"At around 11.10am, a report was received that two men had entered TLC Hair and Beauty on Water Street and stolen electrical items before running off.

"The men were described as both white, and in their early 20s, of medium build. The first man was wearing navy blue shorts, dark grey/green hoody and a blue mask.

The second man was wearing black jogging pants, black and white Nike trainers, a blue hoody and blue surgeons mask.

"Enquiries are ongoing."

Anyone with CCTV, mobile or dashcam footage to identify the men is asked to contact us via @MerPolCC or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 with reference 21000708572.
