Thugs on the run after stealing precious jewellery box in burglary on Dublin home

A garda hunt is currently underway after thieves broke into a west Dublin home during an evening burglary and stole a priceless jewellery box.

The two men broke into the house through the front door in Ballyfermot on Tuesday evening at around 6pm.

The incident which took place on Wheatfield Road was caught on camera by the homeowners' CCTV and a still from the footage was posted on local Facebook group Palmerstown Neighbourhood Watch.

A Garda spokesman told Dublin Live: "Gardaí at Ballyfermot are investigating a burglary at a house on Wheatfield road on 12/11/2019.

He added: "The incident occurred at approximately 6.15pm. It’s understood a small amount of jewellery was taken.

"No one was home at the time. Enquiries are ongoing."
