A motorcyclist has spoken of his terror he was 'chased' around Bolton by two men who tried to pull him from his scooter and rob him.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 20s, claims he was followed around Bolton town centre by two men - on another motorcycle - who tried to pull him off the back of his bike.
The Farnworth man, who wished not to be named, says he did not know the men and was left terrified after the ordeal on Saturday afternoon, which lasted around 40 minutes.
He told the Manchester Evening News : "I was just riding to go to the shops and I was on Topp Way in Bolton just approaching the lights. I heard a bike behind me when I was moving about 25 mph.
"They came alongside me and tried to pull me off the back. I managed to stay on.
"Then they were following me and I tried to pull away across the junction. They even followed me into oncoming traffic and they were still trying to pull me off the back."
The man managed to escape for a short time, but the men found him once again.
"I got away for a while and drove towards the town centre, I managed to ring the police and two bystanders helped me," said the man.
"They also called the police. But, the guys managed to find me again. Luckily that time there was someone in a car passing by and they blocked them in.
"It was terrifying, it lasted about 40 minutes, I've got a tracer on the bike so I used it to check how long it lasted."
Police were called to reports of an attempted robbery and are now making enquiries into the incident.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "Police were called shortly before 3.30pm on Saturday 23 May 2020 to a report of an attempted robbery that had occurred on Topp Way, Bolton, whereby a motorcyclist had been confronted by two men on another motorcycle.
"Officers later attended and spoke with the victim and enquiries remain ongoing, including into relevant CCTV cameras that may cover the area."
