Thugs cut wires and destroy alarm but STILL manage to leave empty-handed in Shankill, Dublin

Thugs are currently on the loose in Dublin after an attempted break-in where they still managed to leave empty-handed.

The broad daylight burglary attempt happened on Monday evening at Crinken Glen in Shankill.

The homeowner was relieved to admit that the thieves left without anything but spoke about how they managed to gain entry.

She said: "They broke the front door, alarm was ripped off the wall and wires were cut at the main box.

She added: "But thankfully they couldn’t disconnect the sound so they didn’t stay long enough to steal anything."

A spokeswoman for Gardai confirmed the attempted burglary to Dublin Live and said: "It is understood there was nothing taken."

She added: "There was a small amount of criminal damage committed and investigations are ongoing."
