Thugs break-in to Cambuslang shop before stealing five-figure sum from ATM machine

Police are appealing for information after a break-in and theft from a convenience store in Cambuslang.

Officers were called to the Day Today store on Woodland Crescent around 1:40am yesterday morning (April 22) following reports of a break-in and theft.

Significant damage was caused to the outside of the store and a five-figure sum of cash was stolen from an ATM machine at the shop.

A number of enquiries are ongoing to trace the suspects and the vehicle involved, which was a dark-blue Audi estate.

Police would like to hear from anyone with any information on the crime or the vehicle involved, including anyone with dash-cam footage who may have witnessed anything related to the enquiry.

Detective Constable Christine McLanachan, of Cambuslang Police Station, said: “We have been carrying out enquiries in Woodland Crescent and speaking to members of the public. We are gathering and viewing CCTV footage from in and around the local area to help us trace the Audi involved and find out where it travelled to after the incident.

“At this time, I would like to hear from anyone with any information on this crime or the vehicle involved, including anyone with dash-cam footage who may have witnessed anything significant to this enquiry.

“Information can be passed to Cambuslang Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 0187 of 22 April. Alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted through 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
