Thugs attack Scots fire crew with bottles and bricks as they attend deliberate blaze

Scots fire fighters were attacked by yobs last night as they attended a blaze in Falkirk.

Crews raced to a scene on Manuel Terrace, Whitecross to tackle a deliberate fire when they were targeted.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service crew were hit with bottles, bricks and rocks but soon the police stepped in to provide assistance and thankfully no one was injured.

The Falkirk fire station tweeted that they were appalled by what happened, and said it's simply not acceptable.

The tweet read: Sadly, we came under attack last night by having bottles, bricks & rocks thrown at us as we tried to deal with a deliberately set (fire emoji). This is not acceptable Thankfully we got quick assistance from @ForthValPolice All crew were unharmed. No further info will be given."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We were called to Manuel Terrace, Whitecross around 8pm on Friday 24 April, following reports fire fighters were under attack.

"We assisted our emergency service colleagues to allow them to do their job, and enquiries into the incident are ongoing."

Many on social media were also outraged at the attack.

One said: "That's terrible news no one should be going to work and getting assaulted. Great to hear no one was physically harmed."

While another added: "Absolutely shocking and totally unacceptable. Hope no-one was injured and doesn't happen again."
