Thugs attack emergency services workers over chaotic Halloween night

Emergency service workers being attacked, burning houses, and cars being driven onto bonfires marked a chaotic night in Dublin for Halloween 2019.

Over 200 fires were reported to the Dublin Fire Brigade across the capital last night as revellers were out in for celebrating the Autumn holiday.

Firefighters in the city centre came under attack while responding to a bonfire in the Pearse House flats.

Rocks and fireworks were hurled at the hero workers as they tried to quell a bin fire that turned into a huge inferno.

Dublin Live understands that after leaving the scene the garda public order unit were called back in as tempers started to spill over.

It's believed one woman was injured following an assault.

In Cherry Orchard, a van was set alight at the foot of a derelict house that has previously been targeted.

Gardai are investigating the huge blaze which was caught on video on Cherry Orchard Drive.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí attended the scene of a car fire outside an unoccupied house (currently boarded up) in Cherry Orchard shortly before 7pm. No reported injuries or arrests."

Another video believed to be taken around the same area shows thugs senselessly launching fireworks at a patrol car.

Separately, others can be seen joyriding on forklifts that appear to have been stolen from a nearby site.

On the Southside two cars were set alight and lampposts were downed blocking off an entrance to an estate in Fortunestown.

Northside in Darndale a number of cars were burnt out, some of which were driven straight onto bonfires.
