Thugs attack couple with hammer and knife in terrifying home raid in Ayrshire

A manhunt has been launched for thugs who attacked a couple with a hammer and knife in a terrifying home raid in Ayrshire.

The man and woman, both aged 30, were in their home on Seaton Terrace, Irvine, when a pair of males entered at around 10.10pm on Thursday, January 14.

The yobs proceeded to attack them with a hammer and knife before making off from the scene.

It not known whether they left in a vehicle or on foot.

The victims were rushed to Crosshouse Hospital to be treated for their injuries, where the man remains in a stable condition.

Now officers are appealing for information from anyone who may be able to help them track down the suspects.

Both men are described as being around 6ft tall and were wearing balaclavas. One of the men was wearing shorts.

Detective Constable Lee Duncan, of Saltcoats CID said: “This couple were attacked within their own home, a place where they should feel safe.

“We are carrying out enquiries in the area but would appeal for anyone who was around Seaton Terrace late last night, or who may have dash-cam or home security footage to get in touch with us.

"You may have the information that can help us.”
