Shop staff in Dorset Street 'threatened by robbers armed with broken glass bottle'

Staff at a city centre shop were left terrified after two men allegedly armed with a broken glass bottle held up the store and made threats against the workers.

The terrifying scenes unfolded at a store on Dorset Street at around 9pm last night.

Fortunately no one was injured in the incident but the alleged robber made off with a number of items from the shop.

Two men were later arrested by gardai in a follow up search. One was a juvenile and the second man is in his late teens.

A garda spokeswoman said: "The juvenile was questioned in relation to the incident and has been released pending a referral to the Youth Diversion Programme. "

The second man has been charged and will appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, this morning at 10.30a.m.
