A heartless thug with a "man bag" punched a milkman multiple times before making him drive him about on his milk float .

The 'terrifying' attack took place in the early hours of the morning on Friday, July 26.

At 12.50am the milkman, 32, was carrying out his delivery to a medical centre in Hoole, Chester when he noticed a man standing near his vehicle.

The man threatened the him and told him he was going to steal his milk float.

The milkman managed to drive away and call the police , but at the next stop the attacker caught up with him on foot before lying down in front of the float.

He then punched the milkman multiple times before managing to get into his float.

The thug then demanded to be chauffeured around the area.

Luckily the milkman was able to find somewhere safe at a petrol station.

Landing one more punch to the milkman, the attacker then ran off.

Cheshire police are now appealing for information and have released a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the assault.

The man is described as white and around 5ft 8ins tall.

He was wearing a T-shirt with the words ‘Just Do It’ on the front and dark shorts with a dark-coloured man bag on the left side of his body.

PC Georgia Hughes, of Chester Local Policing Unit said: “This was a terrifying ordeal for the victim who understandably has been left shaken by what happened.

“While we continue to follow a number of lines of enquiry, I believe the man in the CCTV image may have information which could help with our investigation. I want to appeal to him, and anyone else who has information, to come forward.”

If anyone has any information they are asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting IML 467478,

Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
