Thug who shot dead young Mancunian rapper Miguel Reynolds found guilty of murder

A gunman has been found guilty of murder after shooting dead a man from Manchester in a 'merciless execution'.

Miguel Reynolds, 21, was gunned down on Merseyside after travelling on the M62 to buy a car, Liverpool Echo reports.

He and a friend were robbed at gunpoint by a gang of men, before being ordered to hand over £2,000 and leave.

Liam Watson (Merseyside Police)

Miguel refused to accept being robbed and chased after Liam Watson.

Watson, 32, fired one shot which missed, and then another which hit Miguel to the neck.

Seven men went on trial and all denied murder, as well as conspiracies to rob, possess a prohibited firearm and possess prohibited ammunition.

Watson was found guilty of all charges.

Kyle Sanders, 22, who prosecutors said set up the robbery, was found not guilty of murder, but guilty of manslaughter and the three conspiracies.

Joseph McKeever, 29, and Dale Avery, 26, were both found not guilty of murder or manslaughter, but guilty of the three conspiracies.

Paul Blackhurst, 27, James Harrison, 23, and Jake Mawhinney, 21, were acquitted of all charges.

Avery's then girlfriend, mum-of-one Emma Kirby, 23, was found guilty of assisting an offender.

Miguel Reynolds (GMP)

Jurors had deliberated for four days, following an 11 week trial at Liverpool Crown Court.

Miguel, an aspiring rapper from south Manchester who went by the name Lil Gwop Boy, was due to celebrate his 22nd birthday three days later.

Doctors tried to save him but the gunshot wound proved fatal.

Prosecutors described the shooting as a 'merciless execution'.

The jury heard how Sanders had been in contact with a man he had met in prison, who acted as a 'bridge' between the robbers in Liverpool and Miguel.

Miguel and his friend agreed to travel to Netherton, Sefton, on Merseyside to buy a stolen Audi S1 for £2,000.

Kyle Sanders (Merseyside Police)

They were met by Watson, Sanders and McKeever at about 8pm on June 7, 2018.

One pretended to go and open a nearby garage but prosecutors said it was a 'ruse'.

Watson pulled out a gun and Miguel was told to hand over the cash and leave.

But after giving chase, he was shot dead shortly after.

Watson, of Litherland Park, Litherland; Sanders, of Charles Best Green, Bootle; McKeever, of Howard Florey Avenue, Bootle; Avery, of Marie Curie Avenue, Netherton; and Kirby, formerly of Marie Curie Avenue, Netherton, will be sentenced at a later date.
