Thug who shot bouncer after being refused entry to club stabbed two people while on release from prison - he was arrested at Manchester Airport

A 'dangerous' man who fled Ireland and stabbed two people while on release from prison for a nightclub shooting has been jailed.

Wayne McNally, 34, was arrested at Manchester Airport last December, hours after a man and a woman were discovered with stab wounds at a house on Camberley Mount in Bradford.

They were both seriously hurt. At the time, the man's injuries were described as 'life-threatening'.

Following his arrest, McNally was charged with further offences and remanded in custody.

McNally, of Dublin, travelled to Bradford after being released from prison last year.

He served part of a 13-year sentence for shooting a nightclub bouncer after he was refused entry to a nightclub in his hometown.

McNally was found guilty of two counts of wounding with intent and a further count of assault following a trial at Bradford Crown Court.

His Honour Judge Neil Davey QC handed McNally a life sentence, with a minimum of ten years before he can be considered for release, following a hearing at the same court on Tuesday.

Speaking after sentencing, Detective Sergeant Tom Levitt, of Bradford District CID, said: “McNally inflicted serious injuries on his victims and then attempted to return to Ireland to try and evade capture.

“I would like to thank them for assisting our investigation and hope today’s outcome will give them some closure.

“He is clearly a very dangerous man and the public should feel safer with him being back behind bars.”
