Thug who headbutted child's mother wanted for failing to appear at court

A Bolton man is wanted after failing to show up at court this morning (March 1).

Lucas Hughes, of Sandown Crescent, Little Lever, was set to be sentenced after admitting causing the mother of his child actual bodily harm.

At a committal for sentence hearing on October 6 2020, prosecution barrister Eleanor Gleeson told Bolton Crown Court that the 23-year-old had headbutted the woman on January 12 that year.

Hughes also hit, kicked and pulled the woman’s hair extensions out and she was left with a black eye, according to Ms Gleeson.

The assault was committed while Hughes was serving a 12 month suspended sentence for theft.

His sentencing was deferred until today to allow time for enquiries to be made regarding a complaint made by Hughes, about the victim, to police.

During today’s hearing, defence barrister Kelly Cyples said that attempts to contact Hughes have been unsuccessful.

Judge Timothy Stead issued a bench warrant for his arrest.

He said: “I told him on October 6 that it was deferred until today.

“There is going to be a warrant issued for his arrest.”
