Thug who battered ex-girlfriend turned up late to court after oversleeping

A man has admitted to battering his ex-partner on multiple occasions.

Nathan Modlinsky is set to be sentenced next month, after pleading guilty to assaulting a female victim, who he was previously in a relationship with. The 27-year-old turned up late to the hearing, on Monday, June 13, after saying he had "overslept".

The court heard that Modlinsky, 27, of Belmont Avenue, Wigan, had previously used the same excuse after missing a meeting with the probation service. He will be sentenced for two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The first count relates to an incident on July 18, 2021 and the second count is in relation to a four-day period between July 31 and August 3 2021, the MEN reports. The judge, Recorder Peter Horgan described the lateness as "the actions of a man who doesn't appear to care" and confirmed that he will sentence Modlinsky on July 29.

Modlinsky was released on conditional bail - with conditions not to contact his victim, her children, or attend at their address.
