Thug wearing knuckleduster breaks jaw of boy, 14, in town centre attack

A thug wearing a knuckleduster broke the jaw of a boy, 14, after punching him.

The victim was attacked near a town centre bus station in what police say was a totally unprovoked assault.

Now detectives have appealed for witnesses and CCTV footage of the suspect who struck in Warrington.

The boy was punched to the face outside the Hop Pole pub near to the bus station.

The assault happened at 5.25pm on Tuesday 21 December.

The offender rode away from the scene on a scooter in the direction of Horsemarket Street towards Buttermarket Street.

The attacker is believed to be about 18-years-old with a Liverpool accent. He is described as wearing a black Moncler puffer jacket, light grey tracksuit and jogging bottoms, white Nike trainer with a black balaclava covering his face.

He was also wearing a Gucci bag with a red and black strap across his shoulder.

The victim was taken to hospital and treated for a fractured jaw.

Since the assault took place police have been reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses however are still appealing for information.

Detective Constable Pam Hunter said: “The boy sustained serious injuries to his face after being punched by a male using what we believe may have been a knuckleduster.

“While the circumstances surrounding the assault are ongoing I am encouraging anyone with information to get in touch.

“If you know the person who committed the assault or if you were in the area at the time it took place and not yet spoken to an officer please contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone with dash cam footage that may be of assistance to the investigation to also make contact.”
