Thug threatened Scots dog owner after his 'husky' mauled pup near Lockerbie

Cops are hunting a “threatening” dog owner after a horror attack that left a terrier needing life-saving surgery.

Police have launched a probe over the incident, which took place at the Eskrigg Nature Reserve near Lockerbie at around 2.15pm on Sunday January 17.

A man was walking his terrier dog there when a 'husky-type dog' launched a brutal attack on the pup.

The male in charge of the aggressive dog, which was off the lead, then acted in a “threatening manner” towards the owner of the injured dog.

The poorly pup required emergency surgery to save its life after the incident.

Now police are appealing from anyone with information over the attack to help them with their investigation.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police wish to hear from any witnesses in a bid to identify the suspect who is believed to have travelled to the area in a silver Volvo estate car.

"If you have any information regarding this incident contact Police on 101 quoting incident number 2461 of the 17 of January.

"We would like to remind dog owners of the importance of keeping their pets under control."
