Thug smashes 'weapon' over head of Scots man hospitalised in attack

A man has been rushed to hospital with serious head injuries after being struck with a weapon by a thug in Arbroath.

Emergency services were called to Leonard Street at around 6.55pm on Monday, March 22.

A 50-year-old man was badly hurt and rushed to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.

Detectives have issued an appeal for help from the public to identify and find the man responsible.

Officers believe he spoke with a Glasgow accent and had a shaved haircut. He was wearing a blue hoodie, a red t-shirt and black tracksuit bottoms.

Detective Sergeant Craig Kelly, of Dundee CID, said: “We are appealing for information from members of the public to help trace those involved.

“We would urge anyone who may have witnessed the incident or saw someone acting suspicious in the area before or after the incident to contact police.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 3115 of 22 March.”
