A homeless man stamped on his partner as she lay outside in a sleeping bag due to "sexual jealousy".
Bradley Day and his then-partner were outside Central Station in Newcastle city centre when passers-by witnessed him stamping on the woman as she lay in a sleeping bag. The 23-year-old stamped on her body and called her degrading names as shocked onlookers called the police.
Newcastle Crown Court heard that Day had found his then-partner with another man and carried out the attack due to "sexual jealousy".

Day, of Tyneside Foyer, Westgate Road, Newcastle, appeared at the court on Tuesday via link from HMP Durham to be sentenced for attempted assault. He had pleaded guilty to the offence on the basis he hit her body and not her head.
The court heard that the pair were outside the Central Station Metro stop on January 2 when passers-by saw the incident.
Rachael Glover, prosecuting, said: "Members of the public saw the defendant shouting at the complainant who was wrapped in a sleeping back. He then stamped down on her body. He was calling her a sl** before walking away." Shocked witnesses then called the police.
Ms Glover said the woman and Day were "both known to police" and that a domestic violence prevention order was in place at the time, which was supposed to keep Day away from the victim. The court heard the woman sustained no injury in the incident and Day was arrested the next day.
The court was told Day had 11 previous convictions, three of which were for assaulting the same woman - who is homeless and considered vulnerable.
Rachel Hedworth, defending, said Day had had a "period of time to reflect" on the incident and was now drug-free, despite battling mental health issues. The court was told he had a "difficult upbringing" and had a history of overdosing, and was on medication for anxiety and depression.
Sentencing Day, Judge Robert Adams said he had shown remorse and was in an on-off relationship with the victim, which had been described as "toxic". He said both Day and the victim "live on the streets" and are drug users.
Judge Roberts added Day had found the woman with another man and that the incident was carried out as a result of "sexual jealousy". Day was given an eight month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months and must complete a 12 month drug rehabilitation programme and a 30 day building better relationships programme.
He was also fined £100.
