A son who hurled a candle at his dad and pushed him into a television has been spared jail.
Calum Hardie, 26, flew into a rage after his father refused to let him into their home in Denny, Stirlingshire, "due to his state of intoxication" a few days after Christmas.
Falkirk Sheriff Court was told Hardie "lunged" at his father, Stuart Hardie, and pushed him with both hands.
Mr Hardie, 53, fell over, and Hardie began punching him to the face and body.
They both ended up in the living room, where Hardie pushed his father into the TV and then picked up the candle and threw it at his father, causing an injury to his forehead.
The court heard Mr Hardie snr developed "severe swelling" to the right hand side of his forehead, and also suffered a burst lip in the incident, which occurred about 11pm on December 28th (2021) at Hardie's parents' home in Demoreham Ave, Denny, Stirlingshire.
After the incident Hardie went upstairs while both his parents left the property - because they were frightened - to stay with friends.
They called police.
Hardie, of Grangemouth, pleaded guilty to assault to injury.
Defence agent Stan Quirk said Hardie was "a hard working young man", there had been no further incidents trouble.
Sheriff Derek Livingston fined Hardie £690.
He told him: "I regard your behaviour as reprehensible.
"You have come close to a custodial sentence."
