Thug made up ex 'couldn't care for child' in sick fake report to social services

A thug made up a sick fake report about his ex to social services, saying she was unable to look after their child.

Paul Jeffries appeared in court on November 23 after pleading guilty to stalking after he subjected his ex to a campaign of terror.

Teesside Crown Court heard how Jeffries who was devastated by the end of their 14-year long relationship launched a three-month campaign of harassment against the victim.

Teesside Live reports that his ex-partner claimed he was violent and controlling which eventually led to the break up in September 2020.

Prosecutor Rachel Masters said that between July and September this year - despite being prohibited from doing so due to a harassment investigation - he attended his victim's address on an almost daily basis.

He also called social services questioning her ability to look after their child despite being banned from contacting the child himself.

On July 15, the victim was returning to her home after the school pick-up when the defendant pulled up, repeatedly asking to go inside the house causing the victim to flee to her dad's residence.

On another occasion he held his phone up to the window suggesting he was recording her and was aggressive and shouted at an attending social worker.

He also sent letters, flowers and chocolates despite being asked not do to so.

The Havilland Road resident has 37 convictions for 120 offences which include causing grievous bodily harm and threatening to kill another an ex-partner.

Despite this, his defence Robert Mochrie, said he should be given credit for pleading guilty to the campaign of harassment.

Sentencing, the Recorder of Middlesbrough, his Honour Judge Watson QC said: "This was a bad case which you persisted in your selfish and intimidating conduct towards your former partner.

"You began harassing and intimidating her by making a wholly unjustified complaint to social services after you regularly attended her house demanding you be let in, making abusive comments.

"She never knew from one day to the next what you were likely to do.

"The three months between July and September this year you made her life a complete misery and living hell.

"Over and over again you tried to contact her whilst on bail."

Judge Watson sentenced the 52-year-old to three years and two months in prison.
