A thug smashed his way into a man's flat and sent him tumbling to the ground after he hung in fear from a second floor kitchen window ledge.
Colin Williams inundated his target with Facebook messages, warning him of violence, including vows that 'I'm not done until I've caught you.'
The 23-year-old also told him: "You think you're smart playing hide and seek," before coming to his home and kicking down his door.
The victim tried to escape, on the evening of December 2 last year, by climbing out the kitchen window and hung from the second floor ledge, hoping he wouldn't be seen.
But Williams spotted him and struck his hands with a sharp object, causing him to tumble to the floor, shattering his heels.
The man staggered away from the flat in Padgate, Warrington, to a nearby takeaway and asked staff to call police while his girlfriend fled the home for help.
The victim, also 23, was unable to walk for months and suffered an injury to his finger, Liverpool Crown Court heard.
Williams was arrested at his home address, on Toll Bar Road, and was interviewed by police the following day.
He replied no comment to the questions put to him and was charged.
On Friday, Williams was jailed for nine years and six months after a jury convicted him of aggravated burglary and section 18 assault.
After the four day trial at Liverpool Crown Court, DC Rob Thorpe, from Warrington Local Policing Unit, said: “I am pleased the jury has convicted Williams and justice has been served for the victim who has been fully supportive throughout the case.
“Williams left him in complete fear. He felt he had no choice but to cling onto the window ledge to try and avoid detection.
“Williams knew he was hanging out of the window and still his hand was struck which meant he fell from a considerable height and sustained serious injuries to his feet.
“Despite being in considerable pain, he fought through this and managed to get help from the public who called police.”
David Keane, Police and Crime Commissioner for Cheshire, said: “This would have been a terrifying incident for both victims so I’m glad that justice has been served."
