Thug jailed for breaching order given for "repeatedly stamping" on man's head

An aggressive Coatbridge brute who “repeatedly stamped” on a man’s head has been sent to prison after breaching a court order.

Darren McMullen also “repeatedly punched” his stricken victim on “the head and body” during the violent attack at a property on Airdrie’s Thrashbush Quadrant.

The troubling incident took place in September 2017 and, after admitting his guilt, 27-year-old McMullen was sentenced to a community payback order at Airdrie Sheriff Court on November 21 last year.

But sticking to court instructions proved beyond McMullen as the High Coats resident resurfaced in the dock last week accused of breaching his order.

McMullen owned up to the breach and a visibly unimpressed Sheriff Derek O’Carroll punished him for his defiance.

The sheriff told McMullen: “Since you have no intention of completing this order, I am going to revoke the order and you will be sent to prison.”

McMullen was sentenced to five months behind bars.
