Thug jailed after rush hour knife attack on Pollokshaws Road

A thug who stabbed a man in a broad daylight attack in the south side of Glasgow has been jailed.

Victim Omar Akram, 34, was stabbed by Emmanuel Bundu in the middle of rush hour on Pollokshaws Road.

Bundu, 20, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court yesterday and was handed 21 months behind bars for the attack, which took place on August, 28, 2019.

The knife chase horror was caught on dashcam.

He had previously pleaded guilty to the assault and appeared in the dock from custody.

Given his record and the seriousness of the offence, Sheriff Joan Kerr said there was no alternative but to jail Bundu.

His defence agent told the court: “The report itself highlights a knowledge a number of risks in relation to Mr Bundu that have been brought about by his previous convictions and the charge to which he pled guilty.

“What I can say is, despite his record, he has managed to stay out of trouble and involvement with the police for a relatively significant period of time.”

Addressing Bundu, Sheriff Joan Kerr said: “On August 28 last year in a public place, a busy street, you pursued a man and struck him twice with a knife and twice with your fist.

“Luckily his injuries were not life threatening, he has recovered I’m told from his injuries.

“I have had regard to that and everything that’s been said on your behalf, in particular I have had regard for your age and your immaturity.”

However, Sheriff Kerr said the only “suitable disposal” for Bundu was custody.

He was sentenced to 21 months in jail backdated to October 2, 2019.
