Thug in ski-mask armed with meat cleaver raids Tameside shop

Detectives are investigating following an armed raid at a shop in Tameside.

Officers were called to McColls on Astley Street in Dukinfield just before 6pm on Monday to reports of a robbery.

A man in a ski mask stormed the shop armed with a meat cleaver.

He threatened staff and demanded they hand over money before escaping the scene with cash from the till.

McColls was closed for several hours while investigation work was carried out.

No staff or customers were hurt during the robbery, and no arrests have yet been made.

GMP said: "At around 5.50pm on August 12 an armed robbery was reported to have occurred at McColls, Astley St, Dukinfield.

"A male offender wearing a Ski Mask and carrying a meat cleaver entered the store and demanded money.

"He made off with cash from the till.

"The shop was closed to allow investigation by police."
