A thug has been jailed for abusing hospital nurses who were treating him during the coronavirus crisis.
Kelvin Crossley, 23, called the health workers 'ret***d' and 'f***ing idiots' while he was at the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital in Grimsby.
A court heard he insulted stressed NHS staff after his tooth was knocked out when he was 'slammed' to the floor by police.
He had been arrested for attacking his ex-girlfriend after he flew into a jealous rage, Grimsby Live reports.
Crossley, of Scunthorpe, admitted using threatening behaviour towards a nurse on April 7. He also admitted assaulting his ex-girlfriend and breaching a restraining order on April 6.
Martin Howarth, prosecuting, told Grimsby Magistrates' Court that Crossley was given the restraining order and an eight-week suspended prison sentence on December 4 for assaulting the woman and causing criminal damage.

He had wielded a knife during a disturbance on that occasion.
But, despite the order, he went to her Scunthorpe home in March and asked her to let him stay there.
She felt sorry for him because he had nowhere to stay and allowed him to live there.
There were no problems for about a month but, one day, he believed that she might be seeing a previous boyfriend.
There was later a confrontation and he pushed the mother-of-three into a bedroom and shouted abuse at her, telling her: "You are the reason I'm doing this."

Crossley was arrested and was taken to Birchin Way custody suite, Grimsby, where it was noticed that he had an arm injury.
He was taken to the Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, where he was erratic and aggressive towards staff.
He told nursing staff that they were "f***ing idiots" and branded them "ret**d".
He called a nurse an unpleasant name and was particularly abusive towards her.
"At the time, she was trying to help him and she was very distressed by the abuse," said Mr Howarth.
Vicky Lee, mitigating, said that when Crossley was taken into custody, he was put on the floor because of his behaviour.
"He was slammed on the floor with such force that it knocked one of his teeth out," claimed Miss Lee.
When Crossley was handcuffed behind his back, a police officer put his foot on his hand.

"What happened at the hospital was a consequence of that," said Miss Lee.
"What happened at the hospital to the nurses, especially at this time, was totally unacceptable.
"He took it out on the wrong people. He acknowledges that he has totally done wrong in respect of them."
No injuries were caused during the assault on the ex-girlfriend but Crossley accepted pushing her.
She had invited him to stay there and had sent him text messages that week.
He had been drinking and this caused him to lose his temper beyond control.
District judge Daniel Curtis said Crossley's behaviour at the hospital was "disgraceful" because everyone who worked at the hospital at the moment was under "intolerable pressure" and did not deserve to have abuse hurled at them.
"You have little respect for anybody, particularly health service professionals," said Mr Curtis.
Crossley was jailed for 30 weeks and was ordered to pay £100 compensation.
