Thug handed a community payback order after assaulting a man in pub

A man was knocked out after being assaulted in a Hamilton pub.

Martyn Docherty (40) of Selkirk Street, Blantyre, was handed a community payback order as an alternative to jail at Hamilton Sheriff Court last week.

He admitted punching Colin McPaul and knocking him to the floor at Hemingways, Keith Street, on December 29.

The court heard the victim struck his head when he fell and lost consciousness.

Docherty also admitted possession of cocaine, shouting abuse and making threats.

He was ordered to do 200 hours of unpaid community work and fined £100.
