A drug debt collector carried out a "chilling" robbery to settle a bill.
David McCalman went to Angela Scott's home and asked to use her toilet.
And once inside her home, where children were playing, he threatened her with repercussions if she didn't stump up the cash her son Declan owed.
He demanded money from her and told her that others would come calling for the cash - and that a car containing other gang members was stationed in her home street, ready to pounce.
The exchange, in Paisley, Renfrewshire, left her scared and cops were called in after she told social workers what had happened.
McCalman, 28, denied a charge of robbery and went on trial at Paisley Sheriff Court yesterday, claiming he had actually been trying to protect the Scott family from the drug dealers Declan owed the cash to.
He said he left with £40 of the £100 Declan owed and explained: "I went to collect money.
"Declan Scott told me to go and collect it because he owed someone money.
"I wouldn't give the addresses out to Bailey - that's the person he owed the money to.
"Declan told me to go to his mum's to get it.
"The people that were phoning me wanted Declan's address. I wasn't giving them it because Declan's my friend."
But Sheriff Brian Mohan saw through his lies and convicted him of the February 17, 2021 robbery.
A charge that he had also behaved in a threatening or abusive way was found not proven.
As he called for background reports to be prepared ahead of sentencing, the sheriff said: "I am satisfied this was a menacing trip to the home.
"This was chilling. You were collecting a drug debt from Declan Scott. This is serious business."
McCalman, of Paisley, could be caged for as long as a year for the offence when sentenced later this month.
