Thug branded 'danger to women' after sick campaign of abuse against ex

A man who abused his former partner and stalked her once their relationship ended has been branded a 'danger to women' by police officers.

Anthony Glen, aged 35, abused his partner and stopped her from seeing her family and friends for several years.

Glen also created offensive graffiti about the woman on a wall nearby to her home, attacked her in Darlington town centre, harassed her while she was at work, drove a car at her and threatened to kill himself if she ever broke up with him.

Teesside Live reports that Glen was arrested and charged with stalking, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour and assault occasioning on actual bodily harm.

He has now been put behind bars for three years and six months after pleading guilty to the offences.

Investigative Officer Heidi Weir, from Darlington’s Safeguarding Team, led the investigation.

She said: “Glen is a violent and controlling man who is a danger to women, so I am pleased that he is now off the streets and behind bars.

“I hope the conclusion of the court process and sentencing will provide the victim with some comfort as she attempts to rebuild her life and find the happiness she deserves elsewhere.

“As a force, we are committed to helping survivors of domestic abuse and bring perpetrators before the courts.

“I would implore anyone who is in an abusive relationship, or suspects a family member or friend to be suffering at the hands of their partner, to report it to us and let us help you.

“Call us on 101 or dial 999 if you are in immediate danger. If you do not wish to speak to the police, then contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
